It was probably five years ago, but I remember the night so clearly. I was alone at home, and it was the first time in a long time that I had a night with no agenda. It was a night where I just wanted to be with Jesus and sit in his presence and do nothing else. Yet my thoughts were racing, and I was completely unable to shut them off. The more I tried, the more frustrated I became. I rushed to the piano for an outlet, and ten minutes later, out popped this song.
lyrics
Quiet, quiet, faced with silence
You and me and everything between
Stillness, stillness, how I've misplaced
Your face in the midst of my worries
Hurry, hurry, my life's story
Thoughts that race a million miles a day
Yet in the quiet, You are speaking
Give me grace to hear the things You say
You say be still and I will, and I will
In the quiet You speak, I am listening
