This is a traditional spiritual I grew up singing in church, and it has always been the weightiest song to me when it comes to the death and sacrifice of our Lord, Jesus. I couldn't help but write a chorus celebrating the victory that we have in his death and resurrection. It does indeed cause me to tremble.
lyrics
Were you there when they crucified my Lord
Were you there when they crucified my Lord
Ohhhh sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they crucified my Lord
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree...
Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb...
And the darkness fled, and my sin was gone
He is risen, He is risen
All my fear and shame buried in the grave
He is risen, He is risen
Death where is your sting, where’s your victory
He is risen, He is risen
Christ alive in me, behold the hope of glory
He is risen, He is risen
Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
