Hebrews 11:1 says that "faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." and Romans 8:24 says that "hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?"
These verses have been so strong for me as Tim and I have prayed in this last season for people we love dearly who have been going through heartbreaking circumstances where it seems that there is no possible light at the end of the tunnel. I love that God calls us to hope not in what we already know and understand, but in Him and in what He alone is capable of doing. In this truth, we can pray confidently, because we know that He is good and His work is to make all things new.
lyrics
Oh how, we've wrestled through the night
And we've lost sleep, and we've lost hope
And the strength to fight
We pray with eyes that cannot see
The fullness of what all this means
But here we wage war in knowing You have won
I'm calling out Your promises, I'm laying this before You now
Oh how it seems impossible, but nothing is too hard for You
Everything is on the line, I'm not giving up this time
For we have a hope that's greater still
Our hope is not in what we see
And we know that often the battles fought
Are much further than our reach
So we're trusting not in the strength of man
Your will is greater than all our plans
And the victory is Yours and so we run to You
When everything is breaking around me
You are greater than all I can see
My hope is firm in the Invisible
I'm believing You for the impossible
